Instagram launches a new "Focus" Mode for Stories, blurring the background (iOS and Android)

Instagram continues to improve its Stories, adding new features. Version 39.0 for iOS and Android, available now in the App Store, and Play Store allows blurring the background, portrait mode. For iPhones, this is available from iPhone SE / 6S onwards. For Android, we don't have an accurate phone compatibility list, but I tested it with the Note 8, S9 +, P20, P20 Pro and on all, the option was available and working very well.

It should be noted that the Focus Mode of the stories works both on video and photos, and on the front and rear cameras. Everything is done by software, so you don't have to have a dual camera system to apply it. That's why, for example, it also works with dual-camera iPhones like the iPhone SE, 6S, 7 and 8.

It should be noted that, For Focus Mode to activate, Instagram needs to detect a person in the frame, otherwise it won't work.

On iOS, a new sticker is also being launched, the @mention, with which we can more easily mention and connect our friends in the Stories, instead of just adding them as text.
